one of my all time sporting heros, met the legend many times since i started following im and sir Henry back in 1986 thats when i got into racing. absolute gentleman. always had time for me for chats and signing photos i took at the courses. went to the legendary warren place a few times too. the whole gang were amazing inc willie ryan paul eddery and the stable lads and lasses and julie cecil too. but watching steve on a horse calm and still just the Cauthen elbows going was poetry in motion. very sad in 93 when he retired i stopped going racing as much as i did then. followed cecil and cauthen all around the tracks bot were genius in their field. best era of racing 80s and early 90s

Brigadier Gerard flew past a horse that was never beaten again, Mill Reef won The Derby, The King George, The Coronation Cup, the Eclipse and The Arc De Triomphe, and Brigadier Gerard left him for dead. Even as a two year old Mill Reef was a machine. All these Frankel lovers talk about his QE2 race at Ascot, but that was a struggle compared to how Mill Reef won the Gymcrack. Oisin is a great ambassador for racing. I met him at Newbury when he was banned. He signed my and my daughters racing book and was really approachable and kind with his time. Unlike Gosden that is not generous with a signature even in a evening when there’s hardly any crowd there at all. I found that very mean of him. Good luck Oisin. A truly great and dependable jockey.

The American triple crown has been watered down into a point system circus. It’s pathetic…that was done to ensure a triple crown winner every decade. It’s garbage now. The first 11 triple crown winners win their triple downs on their own abilities. Number 12 and 13 had a point system and a drug trainer to help them. Also, number 13 had to be retired immediately after the Belmont Stakes due to severe soundness issues and number 12 raced older horses only once at Santa Anita and like number 13, he had to be immediately retired after that race for a total of about 7 lifetime starts. Give me a break with these Baffert drug runners.
